Making Major Strides!

This Update Brought To You By Constellation logo

December was a busy month for our construction crew as we officially wrapped up a great year of progress. We’ve officially shifted gears from just building the outer structure to really focusing on the envelope enclosure, which are the physical barriers that separates the interior of a building from the external environment (think walls, roof, windows, etc!).

Speaking of the roof, things are moving fast. The TPO (thermoplastic polyolefin, for those wondering) roof membrane is wrapping its way around the stadium and we’re almost halfway done with the massive 360,000 sq. ft. of total roofing surface. And with that in mind, the ETFE roof area is kicking off! A huge batch of wire cables just got delivered, and the crew is working hard to lay them out and prep them to be hoisted up and attached to the top ring beam. These cables aren’t small either—we’re talking lengths up to 600 feet. To make that work, the team’s been laying down tons of plywood protection on the concrete seating to keep everything in top shape.

And to top things off, no pun intended, we also did a fit test of the first lettering on top of the stadium! Each of the four stadium facades will feature “Nissan Stadium,” and we tried out the first 15-foot tall “T” on the west facade facing the current stadium and downtown. Everything looked great, including the visual of the letter lit up at night. The rest of the letters are being manufactured in Wisconsin and should all be installed by this spring.

On the concrete side, the Baker team is knocking it out of the park with over 91,700 cubic yards poured and all the metal slab pours now finished. The only thing left is the concrete under the field! Masonry work is also closing in on the finish line—Wasco crews are at 85% completion, having installed an impressive 448,000 sq. ft. of block.

Exterior-wise, December was all about getting those metal panels up on the south, west, and north sides. Progress is steady with 8% of the black and white ribbon panels, 7% of the corrugated panels, and 14% of the metal louvers now installed. And when it comes to windows, we’re almost there! Out of 1,185 building panels, just 295 are left to install, with 75% of the curtain wall system already done. The push is on to wrap up all the glazing by the end of February.

Moving inside, the vertical transportation is coming together—17 out of 27 passenger elevators are in place, plus work is underway on the freight and service elevators. All 44 escalators? Already installed and ready to roll.

And last but definitely not least, the kitchen and cooking areas are starting to take shape! We’ve hit about 12% of the equipment install, focusing first on the cooking hoods at the plaza and main concourse levels. January’s big target: installing the very first walk-in coolers. Exciting times ahead! 2026 is going to be a great year for the new Nissan Stadium.
