Cam Ward’s Hard Hat Tour & More April Updates

This Update Brought To You By Constellation logo

April was another busy and productive month at the new Nissan Stadium! Quarterback Cam Ward visited mid-month for a hard hat tour, met some of the construction workers, and tossed the ball on the future field. To highlight the month, crews began raising the roof cables, marking another major milestone in the completion of the building.

The ETFE roofing system is officially 65% complete with 108 strand jacks in place and actively lifting the top cable net grid into place. The next step is for crews to install vertical posts around the perimeter of the roof, creating a support system that will eventually allow for the building to be enclosed.

While the main roofing system is being installed over the stadium, crews were working hard to make sure the interior of the building would be safe from future April showers. The Thermoplastic Polyolefin (TPO) roofing is well over the halfway mark, while the windows along the outside walls are nearing completion with only 45 panels left for installation.

It might be harder to see from the outside, but the inside of the building is continuing to make progress. Crews have completed 1,859 of the total 3,102 aisle steps throughout the stadium and 97% of concrete work is completed. All 44 escalators are fully set in place and 27 have been successfully tested with their glass handrails installed. Only eight elevators are left to be installed with 12 of 33 already fully operational. Twenty-seven of those elevators are dedicated to fans!

Framing and drywall reached 80% completion in April as the attention is starting to turn to detail! Ceramic tile installation along the walls and flooring is over halfway complete, setting the stage for plumbing fixture installation. Wall molding is also going up as ceiling installation continues.

If you drive past new Nissan Stadium anytime soon, you might see workers starting to add the bricks to the outside of the stadium, marking the last steps of the masonry work! The metal panel cladding also passed the halfway mark in April.

On the backside of the house, the vents designed for airflow and weather protection that will support the HVAC system are 60% complete. A total of 72 of 108 walk-in coolers are set and cooking hood installation also saw significant progress. Mechanical and plumbing work is getting closer to the royal flush and on the electrical side of things, permanent light fixtures are being installed.

With the roof officially off the ground, things are starting to take shape as Nashville’s Biggest Stage gets closer and closer to its opening act.
