Exciting Developments at the New Nissan Stadium as of September!
Hey, sports fans and community members! If you’ve been keeping an eye on the skyline changes, you’ve probably noticed the bustling activity at the site of the new Nissan Stadium. Here’s the lowdown on the progress made in September!
Piers and Foundations: The Backbone of the Stadium
To date, the Tennessee Builders Alliance construction team has successfully completed the excavation of 400,000 cubic yards of dirt and drilled 779 piers, which are crucial for supporting the stadium’s superstructure. But that’s not all – they’ve also been working hard on laying the foundations on both the north and south sides of the stadium. This sets the stage for the vertical columns coming in, which means things are literally about to go upward!
First Concrete Decks Poured
In an exciting development, the team poured the first elevated concrete decks this month. This includes the space destined to become a whopping 12,000 square foot community area. Imagine this: a year-round spot for classes, job fairs, and loads of community activities. Coolest school field trip ever?
Vertical Ascent Begins
The event level is nearly completely poured, and the crew is gearing up to take the building vertical. The deck formwork for the 200-level concourse kicked off at the end of September, literally reaching new heights as construction moves upward.
Seating Bowl on the Horizon
Looking ahead, the seating bowl is beginning to take shape – at least in its initial stages. The pre-cast planks that will form the seating bowl are currently being produced in Atlanta. They’ll be making their way to us by February, and while you can start to see the outline of the seating bowl now, that’s when we’ll really see the area take shape.
More Than Just a Shell
While the superstructure work might be stealing the show for now, let’s not forget the essential underground work that’s happening. The plumbing and electrical infrastructures are being laid out to ensure all those hot dogs and night games go off without a hitch.
Green Initiatives: Sustainability at Its Best
As part of our sustainability efforts, we’re implementing a cistern system that captures rainwater from the stadium’s roof. This isn’t just any rainwater harvesting; we’re talking about reusing it for irrigation, flushing plumbing fixtures, and refilling HVAC systems. Talk about making every drop count!
Titans Construction Training Camp Success
On a heartening note, Sept. 16 marked the graduation of the third cohort of the Titans Construction Training Camp, a workforce development program that teaches participants essential skills for working in construction. Through three cohorts, the program has a 100 percent pass rate!
As the leaves start to turn, the construction at Nissan Stadium is leafing through its own phases swiftly. Keep your eyes peeled for more updates as we build not just a stadium, but a community landmark. Titan Up!
