Lights, Letters, & Seats: September Construction Update

This Update Brought To You By Constellation logo

September officially marked the end of summer, and the signs are all over the city. Temperatures are dropping, leaves are changing colors, and there is only one crane left standing at the new Nissan Stadium! With just four months until the stadium reaches substantial completion, the roof and secondary steel systems are now complete, and total enclosure is not far away.

Progress is moving rapidly both outside and inside the stadium. On the outside, ETFE roof operations continued, including installation of the first membrane cushions, the inflatable, pillow-like transparent panels that will let natural light flood the bowl. These cushions are already 50% complete!

On the inside, Irwin Seating Company began installing seats at the start of the month, and by the end of September, more than 19,000 seats were installed! To celebrate the milestone, a group of fans were invited to become the first PSL holders to sit in their new seats and they loved taking in the views.

Every seat in the new Nissan Stadium features built-in padding for maximum comfort, and seats sit approximately 38% closer to the field than at the current Nissan Stadium, giving fans the closest viewing experience of any NFL stadium.

Finishing touches are also taking center stage on the inside. The first lockers in the Titans locker room have been delivered and are being installed! Decorative floor and wall tile, glass handrails, and separation partitions are going in throughout the bowl and suites, while millwork and cabinetry work continues in the clubs, suites, and staff and operational areas. The first decorative column wraps were also installed on the North and South façades on the Event and Club Levels.

Daktronics crews completed installation of the LED ribbon boards on the Mezzanine and Club levels, and the first-of-its-kind video board display wrapping the upper bowl is now 80% complete! Field lighting continues to go in above the seating bowl, and on the playing field, the first of seven concrete slab placements occurred on the east end of the stadium.

Back on the outside, the Nissan Stadium letters are up on all four sides of the building, and electricity has been tested as the letters prepare to light up the Nashville skyline! A new steel canopy was erected on the North Plaza, and concrete placements on the North and South monumental stairs are approaching 50% completion. The South stair will serve as the main entry point for most fans arriving via the Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge, officially welcoming them home.

With fall in full swing, so is the work at the new Nissan Stadium. Soon, the last crane will be gone, the building will be fully enclosed, and the stadium will be one month closer to opening its doors and welcoming Titans fans home.
