Moving Into the Next Vertical Phase of Construction!

The stadium project has taken major leaps, literally, in the month of March!
We started the beginning of structural steel frame installation in February, but this past month is where it has really started to take over the show. You can see the steel columns climbing above existing Nissan Stadium on the west side of project. The steel frame is starting to grow vertically from the top of the upper concourse that was cast in concrete. It is amazing to think that the building will be double the height of the concrete frame that you see onsite today! The total final height of the stadium will reach 235’ above the field level! With all of the steel installation going on we are also starting to see our future exterior terraces cantilever out from the building, where great views of the city can be seen.
The concrete crews are starting to wind down their role on the project and are getting closer to completing the final concourse slabs in the southwest corner of the stadium, nearing the completion of our concrete superstructure phase. They will be wrapping up their critical role in the project in early May and we can’t thank them enough for all their hard work.
As the building grows vertically, so do our options for traveling vertically inside and outside the stadium. The escalator installation is progressing smoothly this month with some of the first elevators runs being installed from the plaza level up to the 100-level concourse. In addition to the escalators, we now have a new exterior elevator on the north side. Four exterior elevator cars have been installed to allow the construction team to get materials on all levels of the building. All in all, we’ll have three times the amount of “people movers” in the new stadium as in the current!
As we grow taller, we are also making great progress on the interior build out of the stadium on the field, plaza, and main concourse levels. Walls framed from studs and concrete masonry blocks are starting to create the future rooms of the stadium. Ahead of the wall framing, the Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing crews are getting out ahead with all of the piping, ductwork and conduit to support the full guest experience in the new stadium.
Seats-wise, we are seeing great progress on the seating bowl installation with the precast stadia planks. This work continues to take place at night and the crews are making great progress with over 300 pieces installed so far. We have seating bowl stadia on all levels of the stadium, and they are staying ahead of the steel construction. The field views are already looking amazing!
As always, thanks for following along on this exciting journey with us. 🚧👏
